Part-Time Children’s Coordinator

One of the main missions of Communities Together, Inc. is to support and enhance the educational and personal development of children within the Greater Lawrence area. You will be responsible for providing oversight and supervision to the staff of Manos Felices! at Hancock Courts Housing Project and Stadium Courts Housing Project in Lawrence, MA. The part-time after school and summer enrichment program is offered to elementary aged children residing at the Hancock and Stadium Courts Housing Projects. You will be responsible for the coordination of the summer Vacation Bible School experience for up to 1,000 children in 10+ churches within the Greater Lawrence area. This is a part-time, 20-hour per week position, reporting to the Executive Director. Hours are flexible and usually include 3:30 to 5:30pm Monday through Friday. To apply please send resume to:


  1. Prior experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting; a passion for children, an understanding of the importance of education and a desire to adhere to policies and procedures
  2. Strong organizational skills for planning programs that include crafts, literacy activities, homework help and field trips.
  3. Excellent inter-personal communication skills and work-ethic.
Bi-lingual – literate in Spanish and English desired but not necessary. A degree or college level courses leading to a degree in early childhood education or similar preparatory coursework is ideal.


Manos Felices!

  • Demonstrates a passion for children and their education in the management of Manos Felices!, afterschool and summer enrichment programs at Hancock Courts Housing Project and Stadium Courts Housing project;
  • Provides daily oversight and direction to the operations of Manos Felices! to include the recruitment, training, retention and supervision of employees;
  • Plans a robust program of summer activities, events and field trips for the children to increase learning and to expose the children to the larger world outside their communities;
  • Achieves a balance within the programming elements to encompass: STEM, character development, civic interest/responsibility, art and drama;
  • Trains Program Managers in the use of the material provided and monitors the effectiveness of the programs;
  • Leads teaching sessions with children at each location on an agreed-upon schedule;
  • Communicates with parents in order to receive feedback on the program’s offerings and to assess the impact in the children’s growth and development;
  • Enhances the environment for the children through the recruitment of adults, high school students and college students to assist with reading and homework;
  • Facilitates the involvement of individuals and church groups with the children in the celebration of birthdays and holidays;
  • Communicates with non-profit organizations in conjunction with their partnership and participation with Manos Felices!;
  • Develops working relationship with administration at Guilmette Elementary School and South Lawrence East Elementary School;
  • Fills in during the absence of Manos Felices! staff members;
  • Develops policies and procedures for Manos Felices! in conjunction with Executive Director, advisory board members and staff.

Vacation Bible School

  • Coordinates plans for the summer Greater Lawrence area Vacation Bible School, selects the program for the year in conjunction with church VBS Directors;
  • Orders and distributes all VBS curriculum and craft supplies to the churches;
  • Leads training session with VBS Directors on the presentation of the curriculum and craft projects;
  • Monitors the effectiveness of the outreach ministry by consolidating feedback from the VBS Directors.
