In conjunction with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is accountable for carrying out the mission and vision of the organization.  The incumbent is responsible for the planning, organizing and directing of the organization’s operations and programs.


  • Ensures the financial stability of the organization by communicating with individual donors, churches, organizations and grant makers;
  • Seeks funding and submits applications/closing reports to existing grant makers and potential new ones;
  • Prepares annual budget and oversees accounting policies, procedures and reporting;
  • Ensures that funds are expended in accordance with Federal, Commonwealth and organizational guidelines;
  • Prepares and submits annual reports to Commonwealth and IRS;
  • Organizes, plans and prepares the Annual Report for the Organizational Annual Meeting;
  • Provides oversight and direction to the Director of Faith and Community Relations and the Coordinator of Manos Felices!;
  • Assists the Director of Faith and Community Relations in establishing, developing and maintaining relationships with supporting churches, civic organizations, local nonprofit organizations, Lawrence Public School System and Merrimack College;
  • Assists the Coordinator of Manos Felices! with the recruitment, training, retention and supervision of employees of Manos Felices!;
  • Fosters a close-knit relationship with the Executive Directors of other nonprofit organizations in order to ensure the maximum support to all residents of the Greater Lawrence area;
  • Coordinates  with the Director of Faith and Community Relations to ensure effective communication with all constituents via email, social media and USPS on a regular basis;
  • Responds to inquiries from regulatory agencies, grant makers and others regarding the programming and daily operations of Manos Felices!;
  • Works with and supervises the Administrative Assistant in the performance of all administrative tasks to ensure adherence to customarily accepted management practices and effective communication methods;


  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills
  • Knowledge of and experience in a nonprofit setting
  • Previous grant writing experience
  • Knowledge of accounting procedures and budget preparation
  • Evidence of connections within the faith community
  • Prior experience hiring, retaining, supervising employees
  • Ability to effectively communicate across a variety of mediums
  • A Bachelor or Masters degree in business, education or social work
